Executive function and ADHD coaching for students who are capable, but struggling.

Your child is bright. They understand the material. But school feels like a constant battle: missing deadlines, losing things, forgetting assignments, struggling to get started. You’ve tried reminders, consequences, rewards. Nothing seems to stick.

Here’s what’s actually happening: executive function skills like planning, organisation, time management, and task initiation don’t develop at the same rate for everyone. For students with ADHD, autism, and learning differences, these skills often lag behind because their brains are wired differently - not because of lack of effort or motivation. In fact, research shows that children with ADHD can lag up to 30% behind their peers in executive function development.

Teachers and parents often assume struggles with things like organisation, time management and task initiation are about willpower or making better choices. But executive function skills are brain-based abilities that develop slowly throughout childhood and adolescence - they don’t fully mature until well into a person’s twenties, and even longer for students with ADHD. This isn’t about trying harder. It’s about brain development.

Executive function coaching helps students build the skills that make school manageable. Not through more pressure or consequences, but through practical strategies that actually fit how neurodivergent brains work.

How coaching helps

Executive function coaching helps students better understand how they work, build practical strategies, and develop skills they need to manage school with greater confidence and independence.

Progress grows over time

Through consistent practice and support, students develop lasting skills, self-understanding, and confidence. The goal is sustainable progress, not quick fixes.

Why Executive Function Coaching

Support that understands school, neurodivergence, and the realities of everyday life

Many students are bright, capable, and full of potential — but still find school harder than it looks from the outside.

Executive function skills help students manage planning, organisation, task initiation, time management, emotional regulation, and the everyday demands of school. These skills continue developing throughout childhood and adolescence, and some students need more explicit support than others.

Students with executive function challenges often do not need more pressure. They need support that helps them understand how they work and build practical systems that feel realistic, sustainable, and tailored to the student. Parent collaboration is welcomed where appropriate, because meaningful progress often happens best when students and families are working from the same page.

Is Coaching the right fit?

You may be in the right place if…

If school is feeling harder than it should - for your child and for you - this support may be a good fit.

  • your child is bright and capable, but their results don’t reflect their effort

  • they struggle to plan, prioritise, get started or follow-through

  • homework, assignments, or revision often end in overwhelm, avoidance, or last-minute panic

  • they forget due dates, lose things, or leave tasks until the last minute

  • school stress is creating conflict, frustration, or emotional exhaustion at home

  • you feel like you’ve tried everything, but nothing seems to stick

  • you’re worried your child is losing confidence, motivation, or joy

  • you know your child needs support, but you’re not sure where to start

If you’re nodding along, you’re in the right place.

Every neurodivergent learner has unique strengths - and unique challenges. I specialise in executive function coaching for students with ADHD, autism, and learning differences, helping them develop the organisational, planning and self-regulation skills they need to thrive academically and beyond.

My approach is practical, individualised, and evidence-informed, drawing on motivational interviewing training with the developers of the method, ADHD coaching training, postgraduate study in autism and neurodiversity, current executive function training with Dr Peg Dawson, and extensive hands-on experience supporting neurodivergent students.

The focus is on building genuine independence over time, so students can gradually rely less on external support and more on strategies they can make their own.
